Geek Avurudu 2026 powered by Nestomalt and organised by Gamer.LK wrapped up to an enthusiastic reception, as it welcomed fans, cosplayers, gamers and anime enthusiasts from across the island to TRACE Expert City for a festival that fused Sinhala and Tamil New Year traditions with the colour and creativity of Sri Lanka’s geek culture scene.

Making its debut as a fully standalone event, Geek Avurudu 2026 proved that there is a genuine appetite for celebrations that speak to a younger, digitally engaged generation without losing sight of cultural roots. The venue buzzed with activity from early in the day, with attendees turning out in imaginative costumes and diving headfirst into everything on offer.
A highlight of the event was the lineup of reimagined Avurudu games, each given a fandom-inspired makeover that kept the communal spirit of the season intact. From Mutti Smash, the geek community’s take on kana mutti to Banis Wars, Infinity Kamba War and Game of Putu, the games continued to keep crowds entertained and competing throughout the day.

The Geek Avurudu Kumara and Kumari cosplay competition stole the show, with contestants pulling out all the stops to blend traditional Avurudu wear with characters from anime, gaming and global pop culture. From sarong-clad superheroes to Avurudu-styled game characters, the creative standard on display was exceptional. Gayanthika Arachchige portraying Moana was crowned the Geek Avurudu Kumari while Janidu Bomira Alwis portraying Assassins Creed Ceylon became the Geek Avurudu Kumara.
“Seeing Geek Avurudu come to life as a standalone event for the first time was incredibly special. The energy in the room showed us that Sri Lanka’s geek community is ready to celebrate tradition in their own way, with creativity, passion and a whole lot of flair. This is just the beginning as we prepare for the Colombo Comic Expo happening on 5th and 6th December this year.” said Vikum Jayasekera, the Director of Gamer.LK.
Geek Avurudu 2026 was powered by Nestomalt, with Maggi Papare Blast on board as the Convenient Food Partner and Scope Cinemas as the Cinema Partner, each adding their own energy to what turned out to be a memorable day.
